Here’s what it’s like to go glamping in Thailand – Glamping Passion

In the somewhat calmer months following the White Lotus frenzy on everyone’s timeline, one thing lingered: a collective craving for tropical escapes that felt just a little cinematic (and, thankfully, far less murderous). Season three’s Thailand backdrop catapulted the country’s appeal into new, hyper-aestheticised territory, with Phuket in particular stealing the spotlight. Yes, the island is flush with big-name resorts and powder-soft beaches, but it’s the boutique hideaways that really channel the White Lotus fantasy. Twinpalms, one of the leading Small Luxury Hotel chains in Thailand, has three standout hotels on the island, catering to resort-lovers and serenity-seekers alike.

But it’s its newest property, Twinpalms Tented Camps, that leaves a lasting impression. Not only for its uniqueness (it’s quite literally a glamping resort in a tropical lagoon), but for the ability to cosplay as an eco-chic White Lotus guest, minus the family feuds and suspiciously shady resort manager (thankfully, this one was exceptionally accommodating).

The property

Let’s start with this: these are not your average glamping tents. In fact, each one is a canvas-walled villa pitched amongst a tropical lagoon garden, complete with hardwood floors, private decks, and more rattan chic than your Pinterest board can handle. The designers somehow nailed the balance between safari romance and five-star resort. Instead of bugs and mud, you’re greeted with swimming pools, luxurious lounge areas, and an atmosphere that makes you forget email even exists. The whole place has a slow, barefoot rhythm to it: staff padding around with mango to offer, wind chimes strung in shady corners, and neutral-tones serving as perfect backdrops to your aesthetic photo dumps. The tent comes with a king bed draped in an artful mosquito netting. The bathroom has double vanities, a rain shower, and lanterns for that safari feel. At night, the soundtrack is pure nature ASMR. 

The activities

Make no mistake, this isn’t a bootcamp-style retreat. Twinpalms is all about soft adventure. Wellness is a core pillar, as with any good resort nowadays, and Tented Camps has you covered with an ice bath ritual, sunrise yoga, and what is probably the most aesthetic indoor-outdoor gym you’ll ever see. You can opt in to excursions like Andaman cruises, or lounge at the beach clubs all day.

The food

Speaking of beach clubs, though this resort has no official restaurant on site, there are two Twinpalms owned beach clubs just a two-minute walk (or 30-second buggy ride) away on the shoreline. They also happen to be some of Phuket’s most famous beach clubs. Catch is famed for its beachfront parties and delicious food (this is also where you’re served your breakfast during your stay). So if you like your resort-living with a side of nightlife, Catch is a welcomed addition. The Lazy Coconut next door is more family-friendly, but still oozes cool. It’s pure tropical vibes – built like a shack, has a swimming pool under palm trees, and has surfboards aplenty. Food here is equally as good, especially if it’s an acai bowl or a tropical cocktail (who are we to judge?). 

Final verdict

Here’s the thing: Twinpalms Tented Camps isn’t trying to turn you into a whole new person with endless workshops or guided meditations. It’s more about slowing you down just enough so you notice the first sunlight in the morning, the way the sky shifts to sherbet orange at sunset, and how good a nap feels after a beach stroll. You’ll absolutely come back with a tan, thousands of new photos in your camera roll, and a new standard of what glamping should look like. But honestly? That’s more than enough reason to go.
