It is the season of camping. With the elevated sky, cool winds, and colorful autumn leaves, camping in nature is more attractive than any other trip.
According to the Korea Tourism Organization, the domestic camping population is estimated to exceed 7 million. In line with this trend, digital travel platform Agoda announced a ranking of popular camping destinations favored by South Korean travelers this fall based on its reservation data.
As a result, Jeju Island took the top spot. Agoda analyzed camping-type accommodation data such as tents, holiday and caravan parks, and farm stays booked for check-in schedules between September and November. Following Jeju Island, Jeonju in North Jeolla Province, Gangneung and Samcheok in Gangwon Province, and Namhae in South Gyeongsang Province formed the top five.
A camping site in Gangneung proved its attractiveness as a representative camping destination in Korea by listing it as one of the 10 most visited camping sites by Kakao Navi users in the “Campaign Flight” released by the Korea Tourism Organization and Kakao Mobility.
The South Sea is attracting the attention of campers through the “2025 Treasure Island Namhae Romantic Camping Festa,” which runs from September 20 to November 22. It is attracting attention as a rising camping destination by operating unique programs for each campsite and creating a new camping culture that coexists with the local community.
Demand for camping not only at home but also abroad is on the rise. According to Agoda accommodation reservation data, Bali and Lombok, Indonesia, tied for first place as the most popular overseas camping destinations for Korean travelers, followed by Piencha, Italy, Puket, Thailand, and Mallorca, Spain.
In particular, Lombok has attracted attention for its clear and transparent beaches and dense forests among Korean tourists since it was introduced as a filming location for the reality entertainment program “Yoon’s Restaurant.” PNCHA has also attracted attention by appearing in the camping and travel entertainment program “Europe Outside the Tent.”
Today, camping has become a form of healing in daily life that can be enjoyed in various ways, such as outdoor tent stays and glamping, said Lee Joon-hwan, CEO of Agoda Northeast Asia. “Agoda provides a wide range of camping-type accommodations, from tents to caravans and holiday parks, helping travelers plan camping experiences that suit their taste more easily.”
